Welcome for Head of Children and Young People’s Operational Services / North Tees and Hartlepool NHS
Dear Candidate
We are delighted you want to know more about us and this post.
Stockton-on-Tees is a unique and exciting place to be – at the heart of the Tees Valley it is a great place to live and work and there could not be a better time to be here. Regeneration has already made its mark, to which the creation of the Tees Valley City Region will add momentum. With one of Britain’s most contrasting mixtures of neighbourhoods, there are plenty of challenges.
However, the achievements stand out. The River Tees is now an outstanding leisure resource and we host one of the UK’s leading cultural festivals. Our education results are outstanding and we are home to the rapidly-growing Queens Campus of Durham University. We have town centres old and new, two National Parks close by and a growing economy and population.
These are just a few of the things that help make Stockton-on-Tees a great opportunity and a great challenge. Since Stockton became a unitary council, we have faced these with unity of purpose. The result is a consistently leading edge Council both in terms of performance and in public satisfaction – a matter of considerable pride for all concerned. There is a real feeling that only the best is good enough for our residents; we have seen what has been achieved over the last ten years and believe there is a great deal more yet to be done.
The post sits within our Children, Education & Social Care grouping and reports to both the Corporate Director with the Council and Acting Director of Clinical Services within the PCT. You will lead our highly effective, efficient and responsive operational services across children’s services. With an absolute focus on continuous improvement and performance, you will work with our key partners to ensure we continue to deliver these broad ranging services to the highest standards.
Whether this is your first post at this level, or a career step from your current role in local government, or a PCT one of our partner agencies, you will also be able to demonstrate that you have already achieved success and improvement in your career, by delivering people focused, high quality, large scale services. We believe this is a great opportunity. If you would like to hear more, please get in touch.
